Toronto Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Toronto Things to Do

Toroto is the capital of the province of Ontario in Canada and is located along the northwestern edge of Lake Ontario. It is a major city, so it offers plenty of things for travelers to do while visiting.

CN Tower

The CN Tower is the most recognizable sight in Toronto, towering over all of the skyscrapers in the area. To get to the top, you’ll have to take an exhilarating ride on a high-speed elevator. When you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the entire city and the lake, so don’t forget to bring your camera. There is also a rotating restaurant at the top of the tower, so you can enjoy a nice meal as you watch ever-changing views pass beneath you.

Many major cities around the world have areas designated as Chinatown, but the one in Toronto is particularly spacious, encompassing several streets. The roads here are wide, so it doesn’t tend to get too crowded, and you’ll find a number of authentic Chinese restaurants throughout the area. Although many of the signs in Chinatown are in Chinese, most restaurants have their menus printed in English to account for the large number of travelers flocking to the area.

Casa Loma

Casa Loma is a stunning castle perched high up on a hill at the northwest edge of Toronto. From the top, you can see the entire city spreading out below. This early 18th century castle is filled with secret tunnels and passages, so you can have a great time wandering through its halls and getting a bit lost. The property includes a nice restaurant as well with delicious food and an extensive wine list. Be sure to take some time to wander throughout the grounds, as the gardens are spectacular.

Royal Ontario Museum

The Royal Ontario Museum is the Toronto Museum of Art, Culture and Natural History. It is home to more than 40 distinct galleries, including over 6 million items. You’ll find dinosaur fossils, famous works of art and historical artifacts, all under one roof. You would be hard-pressed to see everything in just one day, so you may wish to allow several days if you hope to view it all. The museum offers discounted rates on Fridays, as well as discounts for students and seniors.

Yonge Street

Yonge Street is known as the Times Square of Toronto and provides excellent opportunities for people watching. There are many shops and restaurants in the area, so you could spend an entire day here just hanging out and watching the city go by. It is also the perfect place to jump on one of the city’s double-decker sightseeing buses. You can enjoy live entertainment from street performers as well. This area is always quite busy, so be prepared to deal with crowds at just about any time of the day.
