We stopped for one day in Tangier. Prior to us leaving on our cruise, a tour guide was recommended and we emailed her. She was excellent and spoke English well and was much cheaper than the tour offered by the cruise line. She can be reached at [email protected].
Highlights:
At first, I was hesitant on what to expect regarding our day trip to Tangier (Africa), since this was my first trip with a small group. However, I like groups of less then 12 people. Our tour guide and the small group made it easy and made me feel comfortable. I enjoyed this trip so much, I’ve decided to go back on another group trip again soon on my next vacation. It just confirms my decision that me and my friends made the right choice selecting Private City Tour in Tangier and had good luck with our guide Nezha. I liked that she gives every detail (cost and itinerary), and what she said was true. Nezha’s tour was great, very educational and concentrated on getting to know the area and the people we were visiting, with planned activities that gave us the best flavor and feel of Tangier as a cosmopolitan Moroccan city. We had time to explore on our own and plenty of time to shop, but it wasn’t the focus.
I found this one of the most enjoyable tours ever! It was so nice not having to worry about making reservations, finding somewhere centrally located, and having transportation. I am so glad that my friends and I found about Nezha. She will definitely see me again.
Quick Tips/Suggestions:
Last September, while on a 14-day Mediterranean cruise, we stopped for one day in Tangier, Morocco. Prior to us leaving on our cruise, a tour guide was recommended and we contacted her by email. She was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, spoke English well, and was much cheaper than the tour offered by the cruise line. At one time, she worked at a Moroccan travel agency. She arranges 6-hour tours of Tangier for more than four people in an air-conditioned van for $100.
HotelMamora
In Tangier, I talked to numerous English and American travelers who have been in Morocco many times and have had NO problems at all concerning their safety. Some notes: When coming to Tangier the best budget place to stay is Hotel Mamora. It is located on the Mokhtar Ahardan Ex Rue des Postes behind the Grand Mosque. You can get a private double room with a hot shower for 300 Dh (27.5¬).
The hotel is overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. All rooms are provided with a private bathroom. There is a restaurant downstairs that offers an excellent full Moroccan lunch and dinner. Hotel Mamora can offer an informal, relaxed atmosphere. They want your stay to be everything you had hoped it would be and more!! The manager’s name is Ben Hassan, and he provides a safe, comfortable atmosphere and will advise/arrange for you to see anything you would like.
