Grand Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar is the ideal place for shopping in Istanbul. The bazaar is a big maze of shops, stores, and vendors for visitors to explore. Stocked with tea, jewelry, rugs, souvenirs, spices, and Turkish delights, the bazaar will provide just about anything tourists might want to find. Stick to the middle of the aisles if you are just browsing for items because as soon as you go toward an object or make contact with a vendor you will be asked if you need help. There are very fair prices in the bazaar, especially for gold and silver, and almost every merchant is willing to negotiate on price.

Local Markets

There are local markets in Istanbul other than the Grand Bazaar. Markets can pop up along the street that sell a little bit of everything. From colorful scarves to seasonal fruit and vegetables, local markets are a way of life in Turkish culture. Many markets are known by the town they operate in or the day of the week they are held. These local markets are nice to visit outside of the tourist heavy Grand Bazaar.

Olivium Outlet Center

The outlet center opened in 2000 and is considered one of the more important outlet centers in Europe. There are very cheap prices on just about every brand-name clothing company. The outlet center also has a play area for children, a cinema, and several restaurants within the same structure.
