Warsaw is the capital of Poland and is a frequent stop for tourists to Europe. Known for its fine restaurants, rich culture, and historic architecture, you’ll find plenty to entertain you and your family.
If you’re new to Warsaw, walk down Old Town Square, an area heavily damaged during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. Those interested in history can check out the Historical Museum on the east side of the area. The city sits on the Vistula river and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Take a stroll by the river and stop in one of the many parks. Lazienke Royal Park and Chopin’s monument are also great places to stop while in town.
Castles, Museums, Monuments
While in Europe, make a side trip to a castle. The Warsaw Royal Castle is located at the entrance to Old Town and used to be the residence of Polish Monarchs. The Palace of Culture and Science is one of the largest buildings in the city with over 3,000 rooms. The Barbican, a fortified medieval outpost is well known for it’s architecture and is another destination to put on your list. No matter where you are in the city, you’ll find more than a few museums and historical sites to spend some time. Talk to the locals and seek advice as to where to go and what to see.
Food and Drinks
As always, when you find yourself in Poland, eat! Warsaw has plenty of delicious restaurants and renowned chefs. Explore the city with your nose and try different cuisines. Warsaw is an ancient city with a blend of different cultures. Explore and see what you like. Also try the beer. Poland has been making some of the world’s greatest brews for generations. Talk to the brewers, learn the different kinds of beer, and bring back what you like. When in doubt, try another one.
