The man who once claimed that an airport is in a city it’s not and endorsed porno on planes is at it again! The Telegraph reports that Michael O’Leary, the controversial head of European budget airline RyanAir, called a passenger “stupid” after she forgot to print boarding passes for her family’s return flight on his airline, thus incurring a 300 Euro (about $387) fee. RyanAir charges 60 euros per ticket to print out boarding passes at the airport.
The passenger, Suzy McLeod, complained to RyanAir after the incident, reportedly prompting O’Leary to reply, “We think Mrs. McLeod should pay 60 euros for being so stupid. She wasn’t able to print her boarding card because, as you know, there are no Internet cafes in Alicante, no hotels where they could print them out for you, and you couldn’t get to a fax machine so some friend at home can print them and fax them to you. She wrote to me last week asking for compensation and a gesture of good will. To which we have replied, politely but firmly, thank you Mrs McLeod but it was your ****-up.”
We don’t want to be like Michael O’Leary, but if anyone deserves to be called “stupid,” it’s the passenger at New Delhi’s international airport who was caught attempting to smuggle a seven-inch monkey aboard a flight inside his underwear. Yahoo News reports that the man was caught during a routine security check.
Need a drink after reading this installment of the Weekly Weird? The New York Times reports that 18 airport workers were busted for allegedly stealing over 100,000 tiny liquor bottles from American Airlines’ flights arriving at JFK airport. Instead of returning unused liquor bottles to a storage facility, the workers were reportedly stealing the booze and reselling it to co-workers and bodegas.
