This was my husbands first trip to Disneyland. He had just retired so I asked him where did he want to go his reply was “I have never been to Disneyland in all my 53 years so I think it would be something that I would like to explore.”
We arrived at the gate bright and early Christmas Day. There were already people of all ages lined up. He was so excited he wore a smile from ear to ear throughout the day. He was quite chatty with everybody in line so I knew he was anxiously waiting to get to the gate. When we arrived to pay he quickly told them this was his first visit, so he was given a badge saying his first visit.
We rode the mono rail into the park, of which was decorated in the Christmas theme. It was beautiful, eye catching even had what looked like snow falling. The parades were themed to Christmas, which made it even more exciting. The kids that were around us were extremely excited especially when Santa arrived.
We only visited the Magic Kingdom this day and believe me there was enough to do and see through out the day. We went to all the shops, sampled all the samples, saw them making candy canes, tried on different hats, took lots of pictures and laughed a lot at ourselves. The parades were awesome and well worth the time and crowds to see them. There were a lot of people but you always found a spot to sit and rest.
We went into the haunted house as one of the many things to see. I was fun and yet a little scary, but we made it through with lots of laughs and pictures.
We traveled onto the paddle wheeler for a nice lazy tour around the park on the water, enjoying all the sites, rides and people. Getting off we had a smoked turkey leg, I must say it was quite tasty and filling.
We wondered around throughout the day going into all the shops, Mickey’s house, Minnie’s, the rides for the smaller children were in this area so we sat having an ice cream cone watching them all have fun on the different rides.
We made our way into the shops to buy some things, getting a sweater, hat and of course coffee mugs in our favorite characters.
The highlight of the whole day was the fireworks that night. They turned off all the lights around the park and the parade began, the colors and lights were wonderful, once the parade was done, Thumbelina flew through the air letting us all know that the fireworks were about to begin. They were done to music. It was an assume sight to see, well worth staying in the park into the night.
He still talks about what a great time he had there and will never forget it. We will return again. It certainly is something that was interesting for all ages to see and visit, no matter what time of year or day you go.
