Worldwide Hotel Sale: 40 Percent Off and $300 in Coupons for Future Travel

Orbitz’ recently announced I Love Summer Hotel Sale offers free nights and savings of up to 40 percent off on thousands of hotels worldwide. But the really intriguing part, at least to me, is the $300 in coupons for future trips that you get if you book a hotel stay by June 20.

The sale is only valid with participating hotels, which are easy to spot thanks to the Summer Hotel Sale icon that appears next to a property’s name in Orbitz’ search results. A minimum-night stay and black-out dates may apply, depending on hotel. I was able to find a few hotels in Manhattan offering 30 percent off stays of three nights or more, and several with 20 percent discounts off the entire stay, for travel over a weekend in June.

As for that $300 in travel coupons? The first is good for $200 off a five-night airfare-and-hotel package, while the other is redeemable for $100 off a three- or four-night airfare-and-hotel package. There are no blackout dates for these coupons, meaning you can use them during the holidays. Both must be redeemed by September 1 for travel between June 25 and December 31, 2010.

This deal has the potential to be quite the coup, because $300 in coupons is quite the incentive to book a hotel stay at an already discounted price.
