Croatia is a year-round destination with a mountainous interior and a Mediterranean coast. Summer is the most popular time to visit, with beaches, warm weather, nightlife, and special events. Winter is generally less popular. However, it's the best time to find low prices and deals. Fall and spring are less busy and have the best weather, as it's not too hot or cold.

Weather Information
Croatia has two climate zones. Much of the country is inland and has a temperate continental climate with a mountainous interior. The south, along the Adriatic coast, has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with many sunny days, dry and hot summers, and mild and humid winters. Inland temperatures average 32 to 36 degrees in January and 66 to 73 degrees in August, while temperatures along the coast average 43 to 52 degrees in January and 70 to 81 degrees in August.Crowd Information
There are more crowds during the summertime because the weather is generally warmer and there are more events. Popular events in Croatia include the Karneval in Rijeka (January through February), International Film Festival in Dubrovnik (May), Summer Festival in Dubrovnik (July through August), Split Summer Festival (July through August), Baroque Evenings in Varazdin (September), and World Theater Festival in Zagreb (September).Closure Information
Sites close depending on location. In general, there are only a few restaurants, usually small ones, which close down during the wintertime. When to Save
The winter low season is the cheapest time of year to visit, with lower prices and deals available. When to Book
Book at least six months in advance for travel during the summer high season—the sooner you book, the better off you'll be in terms of pricing. The winter low season tends to have more availability and lower prices in general, so booking in advance is not as much of an issue.Information provided by the Croatian National Tourist Board
