When To Go

With a warm and dry climate, Madrid attracts visitors year-round. Spring and fall are the most popular times to visit, as the weather is perfect for outdoor activities such as sightseeing. Summers are hot, and many places close for holidays in August. Temperatures and prices are lower in the winter, when fewer people visit.

Weather Information

Madrid experiences a Continental Mediterranean climate, with dry, warm weather throughout the year. Summers can get hot, especially in July and August, when high temperatures average 90 degrees. The winter can be considerably cooler, with temperatures averaging highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Spring and fall are ideal times to visit, with pleasant high temperatures ranging from the 50s to the 80s.

Crowd Information

Madrid gets busy in April and May, especially during Easter and the Feria de San Isidro bullfights. The fewest visitors come to the city in January and February.

Closure Information

Many hotels, shops, and attractions may close during August when locals go on holiday.

Discounts are available in the low and shoulder seasons, with the least expensive time to visit in January and February. Prices rise in April, May, and during Easter week.
